SICKLE PARK

Public BBQ

Sickle Park in Hope Island delivers exactly what its understated name suggests - a no-nonsense barbecue area that gets straight to the point. The Gold Coast hinterland location provides a welcome respite from the usual tourist chaos, with picnic tables positioned thoughtfully around the BBQ facilities. What impressed me most was the park's unpretentious approach to family dining - clean facilities, adequate shade, and enough space for the kids to run about without disappearing into the next suburb. It's the sort of place locals clearly know about but visitors often miss, which keeps it refreshingly uncrowded even on weekends. The barbecue area functions exactly as advertised, without any pretense of being more than a reliable spot for a decent outdoor meal.
